December - Social Responsibility and Awareness
This reflection focuses on “Social Responsibility and Awareness”. Each student is to consider a time when they were doing something for someone else…a member of the community, a global organization, a friend, sibling or other member of their family…
Students, please tell me something specific that you did to be a helper (put together Christmas shoe boxes, mailed a letter to someone in a care home, gave money to someone in need, surprised mom by cleaning your room, etc.).

January - Creative Thinking
Students get creative ideas ALL the TIME that are original and have value. They may get ideas through FREE PLAY, engagement with other people's ideas, while figuring out a problem and / or because of their INTERESTS and PASSIONS! :-)
Some questions to consider:
- How do you get new ideas?
- Where do some of your ideas come from?
- How do you think creatively?
- What types of things do you do to get your brain going?
After having a conversation about these questions, please have your child complete this activity:

March - Collaborating
Collaborating involves the skills, strategies, and character skills that people use to work together to pursue common purposes and accomplish common goals. Students combine their efforts with those of others to effectively accomplish learning and tasks.
People who collaborate well recognize how combining others’ perspectives, strategies, and efforts with their own enhances collective understanding and impact. They value the contributions of group members, interact supportively and effectively using inclusive practices, and strive for shared commitment and mutual benefit.
Grades K-3: Please complete this questionnaire. Think about a specific time when you recently worked as a team (with siblings or friends).

April - Positive Personal & Cultural Identity
Positive Personal and Cultural Identity involves the awareness, understanding, and appreciation of the factors that contribute to a healthy sense of oneself; it includes knowledge of one’s family background, heritage(s), language(s), beliefs, and perspectives.
Students define who they are by what they value. They understand how what they value has been influenced by their life experiences. They identify how their values help to shape their choices, in all contexts of their lives.
For this final activity, students will look at the stories behind their names.
