One of the amazing blessings of homeschooling is the opportunity to have flexibility and freedom in your day...and to find things that you will actually want to do along with your children... It doesn't need to be complicated!
* Reading stories
* Making crafts (and very big messes)
* Singing and gathering around the Bible together
* Running around outside
* Taking field trips
* Doing experiments (also big messes!)
Another one of these good things is playing board games - such a wonderful thing to add in to a school day...with lots of learning happening too!

There are many articles online that outline the educational benefits of games: number recognition, counting, patterning, reading, mental math strategies, basic economics... the list goes on.
There are also the life skills: taking turns, following the rules, winning or losing graciously.
But most importantly, playing a board game is a wonderful way to connect, and enjoy being together. Why not take a break in your academic day and play a game?

One of my favourite sites to learn about new games and some more educational games is "My Little Poppies" my-little-poppies.com/gameschooling/
I hope you and your family have a chance to play together this week. What are your go-to board games?
